There is no story. There is only the track, the car, and the line. And the line is never perfect. That is the point.
Forza Motorsport is Turn 10’s reboot of their flagship sim racing franchise — a ground-up rebuild designed to be the most technically ambitious track racing game ever made. After six years of development, it arrived in October 2023 with a promise: to feel like real racing. Not arcade racing. Not casual racing. Real, tire-compound-matters, brake-temperature-fluctuates, fuel-load-changes-handling racing.
The game drops the sequential numbering of previous entries (this is not Forza Motorsport 8) to signal a fresh start. It launched with over 500 cars spanning decades of motorsport history — from classic muscle to modern hypercars, from touring cars to open-wheel racers — across 20 real-world circuits rendered with photogrammetric precision. The Nurburgring. Spa. Laguna Seca. Suzuka. Each track surface is modelled down to individual rubber deposits and surface variations that affect grip in real time.
The Builder’s Cup career mode structures your progression through motorsport disciplines — touring cars, GT racing, open wheel, and more — with an RPG-inspired Car Mastery system where cars level up through practice and racing, unlocking performance upgrades and tuning options. Practice laps before races build Car Mastery points and teach you the track, creating a loop where preparation is rewarded as much as execution.
This is not a game for everyone. It is a game for people who think about camber angles. For people who adjust brake bias between corners. For people who know the difference between understeer and oversteer and which they prefer. Forza Motorsport is a tool for racing obsessives, and at its best, it sings.
The physics model is the star. Everything else serves it.
Tyre and Track Simulation
Every tyre has temperature zones — inner, middle, outer — that heat and cool independently based on driving style, camber, and track surface. Overdriving heats the outer edge and kills grip. Smooth inputs keep temperatures even. The track surface itself evolves: rubber builds up on the racing line across laps, improving grip in well-driven areas while off-line remains slippery. Rain washes it all away. This is the deepest tyre and track simulation in any console racing game.
Car Mastery & Career
Builder’s Cup is the career mode. Each car earns Car Mastery through practice laps and races, unlocking performance upgrades tied to that specific vehicle. The system encourages you to learn each car’s behaviour before modifying it — a loop that rewards patience and skill development. Career progression spans multiple motorsport categories with increasingly competitive fields.
Multiplayer & Competition
Featured Multiplayer events rotate on a regular schedule with curated car classes and safety ratings. The safety rating system tracks driving behaviour — clean racers are matched with clean racers, rammers with rammers. The competitive multiplayer was widely praised as the best in the franchise, with cross-play between Xbox and PC.
Accessibility
Won the TGA 2023 Innovation in Accessibility award. Comprehensive assist options allow physically disabled players to complete every race. Steering assists, braking assists, stability control, and input customisation make the sim accessible to players of all ability levels without compromising the simulation depth for veterans.
Individual tyre temperature zones (inner/middle/outer) heat and cool based on driving style, camber, and surface contact. Track rubber builds up on the racing line across laps, improving grip. Rain washes rubber away, resetting conditions. The most detailed tyre simulation on console.
Each car earns experience through practice and racing, levelling up to unlock performance upgrades and tuning options. The system rewards learning a car’s characteristics before modifying it, creating a natural skill-development loop.
Online multiplayer tracks driving behaviour with a safety rating that matches clean racers together. Reckless driving drops your rating. The system creates genuinely competitive, respectful online racing — a rarity in the genre.
20 real-world circuits captured with photogrammetry — every kerb, every surface variation, every piece of track infrastructure recreated with millimetre precision. Track surfaces affect grip dynamically, and environmental conditions (time of day, weather) transform the racing experience.
TGA 2023 Innovation in Accessibility award winner. Comprehensive assist options allow physically disabled players to complete every race. The accessibility suite is the most thorough in any racing game, covering visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive needs without compromising simulation depth.
