Forge Mode: The Ultimate Creative Sandbox
Halo Infinite's Forge mode has transformed the game into a platform for infinite creativity. Whether you want to build a reimagined Blood Gulch or an entirely original asymmetric arena, Forge gives you the tools. Here is how to get started.
Step 1: Choose Your Canvas
Start with one of the six official Forge canvases — Arid, Cliff, Detachment, Ecliptic, Institute, and Void. Each has unique terrain, lighting, and aesthetic to suit different map styles.
Step 2: Establish Your Layout Grid
Before placing any objects, sketch your map's flow on paper. Define spawn zones, power weapon locations, and the main engagement lane. A clear layout prevents the common mistake of building visually first and logically second.
Step 3: Use Scripting for Dynamic Elements
Forge's node-based scripting system allows you to create dynamic events — moving platforms, timed lights, conditionally spawning weapons. Even simple scripts can dramatically increase a map's replay value.
Step 4: Playtest Early and Often
Invite friends to custom lobbies throughout development. Raw feedback from actual play sessions will reveal sightline problems, spawn traps, and flow bottlenecks you simply cannot spot in solo testing.
Step 5: Publish and Gather Community Feedback
Once you are happy with the map, publish it via the Halo Waypoint Map Library. Share it in GzoneSphere's Dev community branch to get targeted feedback from other creators.
